Projects in mind

Some yarns from the shop that I'd like to be getting on with. I love the organic cottons, in the centre above.

What I have been knitting for the shop is hats. The kids jester hat is not something I'd have chosen, but it is fun and I liked it when it was finished. The red hat in Zara I'm loving. So soft to knit with. Would like to do this beret MCI for myself - shown here from Ravelry

From the garden on Fathers' Day

I guess this is the low point of my blogging career, posting what I had for breakfast. But no ordinary breakfast is this. Freshly picked tender young silverbeet leaves and rocket, with eggs laid the day before by Edna and Madge, a squeeze of sea salt and pepper. Hard to do better than this on a Sunday morning with the lake shimmering silver and the sun streaming in.

The broccoli is just in the photo to show how the garden has picked up with this week of warm weather. I ate broccoli for afternoon tea, why not.

Tauranga Embroiders' Guild exhibition

Amongst the usual class set pieces and ornamental artwork I picked out these three as my favorities. A zippered workbox that would be great for a sock knitting project or similar; a tile which while not of much actual use for anything is beautiful in its design - simple and structural - and appealed as being a bit subversive, with the hand-dyed thread picking up the appearance of a thick glaze; and an item called a hussif, which I have found is a small rolled sewing kit with pockets and so on, for containing the bits you might need for mending socks, should the need ever arise. I just liked the simplicity of the embroidery with its modern design.
